Following the Shoreline - 21.05.25

After hours in my room, curdled on my apartment floor and swallowed by the internet, I went outside. I followed the shoreline for a while, led by --- Road then dipped into an alley. I was drawn in by janky folk music falling from the open window of an Irish pub - one of the green-tiled traditional ones. I am sat, now, on a bench beneath the window, close enough to take in that beer-soaked smell all pubs have.

I needed to go outside to be reminded of other people spinning the world when I am not looking. I often feel as though it all stops when I'm not there to see it, but the tambourine-led music, hoarse drunken cheering and the warmness of fluorescent lights all bleeding into this alleyway remind me that everything is always moving, even if not by my hand. I am glad I went outside for a walk.
